Stornoway

Although I wish we could post all the photo's we have taken since we got here it would just take too long. We've had a ton a fun since we've arrived here in Stornoway. The town is really fun and feels bigger than what it appears on google maps. Nathan and Breanna's house is about a 10-15 minute drive out of town and  is quite spacious. It is four bedrooms, two downstairs and two upstairs; only two of the bedrooms actually have closets; Living room, dining room, kitchen, wash room, and a boiler room. All the heat is from radiators mounted on the wall. They look real similar to the ones you may have seen in school or had in an older home growing up. But these are smaller and although I haven't tried it (yet) I don't think you can melt crayons on them, like some people I know in school did. Besides providing heat they are good for drying towels and clothes too.

At first it seems as though the cold wind and rain; mostly sideways rain is just to much. But the Brothers and Sisters can really help you to appreciate this little island. We arrived on Friday, and Saturday morning we met the group for Service. On Saturday night the Congregation in Stornoway provide a little going away party for Nathan and his Family, they leave back to the States on Monday. I'll post some pictures of that later but it was a really good time.  We learned a little Scottish Dance and the children did a short Bible Drama. I would like to come back and visit if we ever get the chance. As far as the rain goes that doesn't last more than an hour or so and then you get some blue skies and unbelievable pictures. The Islander's all claim you get four seasons a day on Lewis.

Another treat we've had is being able to spend time with one of Nathan's MTS Classmates, Jonathon Randolph. He gave the public talk Sunday and did a great job. After the meeting we went in service for awhile and then to the "Butt of Lewis", I don't make this stuff up check the map.

We made it home to go to dinner at a Brother's house. His wife cooked an awesome meal and he and his wee boy played some Scottish music as well. His wee boy was competing in the MOD--Music, Oral, and Dance. He did very well playing the accordion. The MOD is performed once a year on Lewis and every four years competitors come from all over Europe to take part. So this is a busy week for the whole Isle.
